Official Opening Avoca Court (May 2009)
Oaklee Housing Association is pleased to announce the official opening of Avoca Court by Councillor Tom Hartley Lord Mayor.
Avoca Court is Oaklee's major contribution to the regeneration of the Springfield Road. This development is one of the most noticeable schemes in the City, as so many pass this beautiful development.
This prominent Site with planning permission was first identified to the Association in September 2003. As always we appreciate the support of the NI Housing Executive who confirmed the need for the scheme in December 2003, and we then received the revised planning permission which was granted for a total of 24 apartments in May 2005.
The Department for Social Development granted us Project approval in May 2005.
The scheme cost a total of £2.5 million to build and we received £1.85 million of that
in Housing Association Grant.
Oaklees Chairman Liam Deane said:
"It is a pleasure for my Board Colleagues and I to come along to the official opening and to be associated with an event such as today. It is our vision that everyone has the right to a decent home, therefore I say most importantly, it is to the tenants that I offer my best wishes and hope you have long and happy days to enjoy Avoca Court"
The construction commenced in June 2006 and was completed within the year by June 2007.
This development has been built to the Lifetime Homes standard, Secured by Design and a
'good' ECO level. They were ably supported by Paul Millar from Hamilton Architects and with
the experience of Oaklees development team produced another Oaklee success story.
