Oaklee Homes Group are pleased to announce for the second year running Oaklee have picked up an Action Renewables Association Award.

Following on from the Award for "Most Sustainable Community Build" in 2010, Oaklee were pleased to receive the award for "Best Energy Saving SME" at the 2011 Awards Ceremony, held at The Ulster Museum.

Oaklee Homes Group have embarked on a number of energy related initiatives in recent years. Such initiatives are a significant investment by Oaklee to help the housing sector's commitment to combat climate change and to further our commitment to reducing fuel poverty for our tenants.

The award recognises such initiatives and in particular relates to the refurbishment of properties in Antrim. In this project Oaklee retrofitted Air Source Heat Pumps into two terraced properties, as part of a larger refurbishment of properties in the Antrim scheme. The Energy Saving Trust is monitoring both installations as part of a nationwide monitoring programme.

The Air Source Heat Pumps were provided by Glen Dimplex and installed by Eaga. Oaklee would like to thank NIE Energy, who provided financial support for the project, which was crucial to the project going ahead.

This project follows on from the retrofitting of Solar Thermal Panels at two of Oaklee's schemes in the past year, and is part of Oaklee's wider drive to continually improve the energy efficiency of their housing stock.

Brian Rankin Oaklee Energy Officer commented on the award: "We are delighted today to win this award, which highlights Oaklee's dedication to saving energy, money and the environment. If Oaklee are to continue to be the leading provider of quality customer focused housing and support services in Ireland then energy and environmental initiatives such as this are invaluable."
