A team of 15 members of Oaklee Homes Group's staff are entering this year's Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon (4th May 2011). The team is running for two nominated charities; NI Hospice and Shine a Light Children's charity.

The impressive team this year is made up of 8 walkers and two relay teams who are hoping to beat last years fundraising total of £3265 to benefit both charities.

George Walker Chairman of Oaklee Homes Group's Fundraising Committee commented on their fundraising efforts:

"We are delighted this year to put our best foot forward for two fantastic charities. Oaklee staff and tenants have already raised £1558 so far this year for the charities and by competing in the Belfast City Marathon we hope to raise a lot more for the two charities. Each step we take we know we are doing it for a worthy cause."

Northern Ireland Hospice is a local charity caring for local people. Each year they care for over 3,000 adults, children and young people with life-limiting and life threatening conditions, both in hospice and in the community. They also provide support for their families and carers.

Karen Dunlop Fundraiser for NI Hospice commented "On behalf of everyone at Northern Ireland Hospice, I would like to thank the staff at Oaklee for choosing to support our work and taking on the challenge of the Belfast Marathon to help raise much needed funds. We rely heavily on voluntary income to help sustain our vital services of care and support for local life-limited adults and children and all money raised through this event will make a real difference to our patients."

The other worthy charity Oaklee are fundraising for is Shine a Light Foundation, who are a voluntary organisation focused on improving the 'Quality of Life' with young children diagnosed with cancer

Good luck to everyone entering the Belfast City Marathon 2011!
