Key Handover of Beechmount Avenue (Friday 10th June, 2011)

A ceremony to hand over 15 much needed affordable homes to residents took place in Belfast's Beechmount Avenue. To mark the occasion, Sylvia Doran Chair of Oaklee Homes Group invited Dolores Ferran Acting Director of Design and Property Services at the Northern Ireland Housing Executive to officially hand over the keys to residents who recently moved into the scheme.

Beechmount Avenue was completed in December 2010 and is made up of 15 properties comprising of 2 bedroom apartments situated in the very popular residential area of West Belfast. The £1.5m scheme was built to the 'Secured by Design' Accreditation, which enhances the quality and security of the apartments.

Sylvia Doran commented on the significance of the Key Handover;

"This is a hugely impressive development which provides much-needed affordable housing in this part of Belfast. Feedback from tenants has been positive and we are looking forward to working on future projects in the area, adding to Oaklee's considerable existing presence in West Belfast. It has also been good to work closely with the local resident representatives, who have taken such a keen and valuable interest in the regeneration of Beechmount.

I am very pleased that Dolores Ferran has been here to perform the key handover, not only because she has personal connections with this historic area, but also due to her key Housing Executive role in supporting the delivery of social housing. I would like to offer my best wishes to the new residents and I hope they have many happy days to enjoy life here on Beechmount Avenue
