Oaklee Housing Association / Getting Involved
Involving Tenants
Involvement is good for residents, good for landlords and good for neighbourhoods. You get to have a say about what happens to your homes and neighbourhoods and we can make sure we put your needs first. We have a Tenant Participation Officer who promotes and develops resident involvement.
How tenants can get involved
Regional Forums
There are four regional forums that represent all Oaklee tenants. Each Forum has two representatives from each sheltered scheme in the region, four representatives from supported schemes and four representatives of other tenants who do not live in schemes.
The Central Tenant Forum
This is a central group made up of two representatives from each regional forum. It meets once a month to discuss strategies and policies that affect all our residents and to make recommendations.
The Central Tenant Forum elects its own officers (Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer) and Oaklee provides a budget to fund and support its work. The officers of the forum also meet with the Tenant Participation Officer once a month.
Service review working groups
From time to time, working groups carry out detailed reviews of different aspects of our service, for example repairs and maintenance, rent setting and the letting process. The groups are made up of staff and tenant representatives.
Representation on the Board of Management
The Tenant Forum nominates a representative to become a member of the Board of Management. This representative is often the Chairman of the Central Tenant Forum.
